YAY!! I finished the game!! I just defeated the demon tonight. I must say a thank you to everyone who has made a contribution to the Top Stickied Tuts, etc link. It was most helpful, and many things, I could get a hint on, without completely spoiling it for me. That meant more than most could know. I hate needing hints at all, and try to avoid using them. I guess because it's always something so OBVIOUS it makes me wanna bang my head on the desk. LOL
I finished as level 48 I think it was, I don't think I hit 49 before beating the demon. But, it could have been one more. I didn't realize going to the wastelands meant no more everywhere else, and had left the wishing well undone. The only quests I did not complete, was the one with Balin, something wrong with it, I couldn't get it to clear once I had made a choice, and one with Tangalf for Trevor, cause even talking to him once it was all solved didn't give the option to tell him about it, and the Sword in the Stone, cause the demon inside kept kicking my butt and I decided to leave him alone for a while. And the barfight, I forgot to go back and do it when I was higher level. Not an inch of map was in the black zone anywhere, and little blue flags covered everything lol I loved being able to mark things on the map, that is a real lifesaver in a non-linear game like this. The teleporters and pyramids were a godsend. I hate walking endlessly back and forth through areas already covered. Many games have that to add to the play time, and hide the lack of content. This one didn't, it was wondeful.
All in all, this has been an excellent adventure. I managed to find all the Dragon Armor, and this one really cool sword I kept until I found the Sword of Gods somewhere. But it was the Sword of Chaos, awesome stats on it. I did read the Warriors Guide someone wrote in that tut thread. He said not to use a frost weapon. Well, at the time, I thought he was joking. But no, it did make most of the game entirely too easy. Especially when combined with that swirl sword attack the warrior has.
I had seen many things mentioning Josephina, at the end, and how she was a pain, and you needed certain things to kill her. Well, I didn't have those. What I did, was to use this frosty sword, cast that spectre spell you used to get across the swamp--she stops attacking you, even if she had been before, and then, move beside her, and quickly change back into regular form, and smack her. If you hit, she's frozen, and you stand there and just whack her till she falls. She doesn't get to move again, but if she does, cast the spectre again to make her stop casting hell spikes at you, and get beside her, smack her again.
Did I mention I'm not much for the hack and slash part of these games? I generally suck at it. I love the stories, and the graphics. That's why I play them. The fighting in this, wasn't tedious at all, the best part, auto attack with holding CTRL. I hate having to click a moving target, I miss often. I don't usually play a warrior, but did this time. I loved that I could still learn any spell I wanted to. The inital choice didn't ultimately decide what I learned, I did. I loved that. You can create a power character like I did, and breeze through the fighting, or you can play hardcore and stick to the original path of that class, making the game more difficult.
I uninstalled it tonight, and have already installed it's sequel, so I'll be over there too now. Hope I haven't bored anyone, but I'm excited to have completed it. It was a blast. Thanks for the help on the gamma questions in the beginning!! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />
