I beat him as a melee fighter and yes he does summon what lady rain said...if you are a melee fighter then hit and run...i fought damian and then when he got one of his friends...i ran..then hit the friend(killed him)...hit damian..and repeat,in the end he will be on his own(no more of his friends),this also requires some patience.
