It makes me think about the Native American/shamanic's animal totems. Since I lived for several years near and with Cris and Montagnais (spelling?), they thaught me a bit about their spirituality. I find it beautiful; everything is based on life respect.

In their spirituality, animal spirits are our guides, in someway. Sometimes we choose them, sometimes we're chosen by them. We can discover our animal totem through reflection and meditation, or by performing a Vision Quest.
There are four kinds of animal totems that we can come across. There are the life long animal totems, wich work with us and teach us things throughout our entire life; message animal totems, wich carry messages, warnings and can be a sign of self growth to come; shadow animal totems that intervene to challenge, test us; and journey animal totems, wich guide us a bit like the life long animal totem does but only during a certain period of time.

For those interested, here are two great websites on the subject: info on animal totem & totem medicine and description of each animal's wisdom.

If anyone of you knows or discover its animal totems, post it please; I would be interested in hearing about it and it's very revealing on each other's peronality.

In my case, my life long animal totem is the wolf, but I've also ever been very close to the horse in my childhood. And those animals are amazingly coherent with who I am. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/delight.gif" alt="" />
