If I read it correctly, Seth wasn't saying anything that's insulting and defaming. It's a simple sentence, not an insult or anything. Seth didn't even had a clear opinion about that.
I too think that the church has indeed some mysterious ways to select a pope that is less competent and is more likely to put items like gay marriage, contraception and abortion back into the closet. What can this man even accomplish at his age? He is already with one foot in the grave.
I also had hoped for a pope that would answer to the needs of the people.
