With that kind of post, there isn't really anything to spoil with my... Erm... Was it spamming? Sorry, I tried to ask you what you where talking about on a somewhat humurous way.

@ Barta: . And MG, you told me to spam here (maybe you'll have to scroll down a bit, but it's there allright).

And I'll stop spam when the thread gets going. And I don't really know anything about electronic music either. I'm just following my persidents lead .

I don't care for it very much. Years ago, when I was still more into music, I had lots of software to copy, mix and ad tunes too. At the radio station it was even more simple.
Anyone could make those tunes/sounds on a computer.
Often easy listening. And therefor popular. Some are great tracks. But I'm just not confortable with the idea that you let "machines" and other bands do the work for you.
I still prefer a good old song that takes more than a keyboard and and a computer to create. I like music to be music, the oldfashioned way.

Electronica m,eans to me : Vangelis (especially in the Duo "Jon & Vangelis", Larry Fast, Tangerine Dream, and ... well, I'm so out of it, thatI've completely lost the track.

I once liked it quite much (and still do, although I'm out of it now), but that was in the 80s, where I got my informations (yes, a plural form exist in German language ! ) from a radio program that was later cut down.

The neweset Album of Alan Parsons "A Valid Path" is also quite into Electronica, so to say.

Does anyone know Larry Fast ? I've got *huge* problems finding anything about him. He cooperated with Peter Gabriel for his first albums, but later went out of this cooperation. I lost track of him at that point. I was *extremely* lucky one day to find a CD with his first Synergy album on it, but since the publisher went bancrupt, they are *extremely* hard to find, I guess.

Alrik.

@Alrik
you know this site?
And the Intergalactic Touring Band? With Annie Haslam.

Intergalactic Touring Band est à la fois le titre de l'album et le nom du groupe, constitué de

David Scance : Lase Guitar
Brian Cuomo : Lase Keyboard Panel
Peter Sobel : Lase Bass
Larry Fast : Computerized Keyboard Synthesis
Paul Marchetti : Holographic Percussion

Although... will be hard to find too, I fear.

Firstly, I'll agree with Uberiel's "What the?", but now I understand what's going on.

can't quite grab the idea what Guroth wants but i'll try. apologies if i don't get it right.

1985: Aphex Twin

only start to listen to it a few year back. just when i was about to give up or slow down on my electronica intake, i found Richard D James aka Aphex Twin aka Caustic Window aka AFX. incredible music, ambient & uniquely refreshing.

those that are interested or willing to try electronica should start with Chemical Brothers or Orbital since they are more accessible, especially their early efforts.

Ah, finally ! Thanks !

This is the album I've got : http://www.synergy-emusic.com/erro.html

It's still on my list of all-time favourites. It's very calm, quiet music, not meditation style , but quite calm, so I like it. Like most of Vangelis songs.

you've got it right, jang as other ones here .

as a matter of fact i don't want anything except starting discussions and references-sharing about electronica.

I don't know. Actually i don't like any of them which is not the question (tastes...) but i think it depends on where you (musically)come from and what you're looking into it.

For those who are coming from modern Jazz and "classical" contemporany music (especially Steve Reich, Terry Riley, Pierre Henri, Gorecki... Stockhausen) it may be better to start with something "less accessible" as the early Warp records... Especially the Artificial Intelligence compilations (Aphex Twin, Autechre aka Gescom on Skam, Black Dog aka Plaid+Ken Downie... etc...)

For those who are coming from instrumental "pop music" (which is actually not incompatible with electronic music) i will recommend highly to start with Kraftwerk, Tangerine Dreams, etc... or even Everything But The Girl
(well at least one or there numerous 90s albums... No need to buy them all as they are all the same ones )

For those who are coming from rock/ hard rock/ metal... well i don't know. Maybe Chemical Brothers, yep.

Less "beginners'" references

@warp: Mira Calix and Squarepusher aka Chaos A.D on Reflex (Richard D. James'label). All is not so good @ warp though as they have the bad habit to impose some (mediocre) beats to their artists. It has become a bit too commercial in the late 90s i fear.

@planet µ: µ-ziq (Mike Paradinas, label's founder), Ddamage, and many others (all is not ever very good, imo, but near all)

all works on the late british label Clear: unfortunately it may be really hard to find anything from there nowadays. (it was ever half confidential i think.).
there was an information page on the web but i can't find it anymore and google is giving me a lot of things which are not related whatever are my critters research.

edit: actually i've found out the link here

Charlemagne Palestine (exclusively for those who like minimalism)

it's all... at least for today

mmm I don't think this is on the right track...
I mean electronic music is just too vague...
if you take a minute to observate you'll see that every post so far is referring to different genres...

personally I'm into drum&bass, trip-hop, nu-jazz, deep house, electrofunk, jungle and others, a bit more commercial

who said i was so sectarian...?

there are some things "commercial" i really liked too.... (anyway not because this is "commercial" or not)...

but i just think that we may have all some different background and viewpoint... why should'nt they be featuring here?

and personnaly i also like trip hop, nu-jazz etc... etc... drum&bass/jungle... electrodub... electrofunk etc...

or at least some of it!
