occationally when i am playing though a dungeon in the battlegrounds i hear a "dong" even if the game is Paused and im just scrolling through, but sometimes even if im just ideling there still paused.

anyone tell me why this is happening? please??? i can guarntee that is has NOTHING to do any other program i may have currently running. =|

What computer is it??? laptop / desktop??? do you have any "hotkey" software running (especially on laptops).

The only thing i can think of is that once in a while, while you are scrolling or idling, the computer tries to launch or do something. A while ago i had shortcut keys assigned and since most people tend to use the keyboard a lot (cntl, alt, i, c, and a couple more) some shortcut keys may get triggered. Resulting in the "dong" because it cant execute the shortcut from within the game....

If this is not the problem.... then we will think of the next possibity...

desktop PC, and no. not that would cause that sound. only progie i have for that works with my "F" keys allowing me to custom config them, but that dosnt have anything to do with this.

Could you please try to describe the sound a bit more ß is is metallic ? Is it like a gong ß Is it like a beep ? Have you fopund a similar sound in the game ?

ONE: Have you scanned your computer for viruses?

TWO: Have you scanned your computer for Hijackers and other malicious programs?

THREE: Have you scanned your computer for hidden / invisible Key Loggers or other similar programs like that?

Because, I've only experience that particular sound every now and then in DD and BD when I try to perform a game function that the game doesn't like or if I teleport somewhere.

If your game is making that sound while you are totally idle and not doing a single thing in the game, and you are not touching your keyboard or mouse, something is running in the background causing it, whether malicious or not.

no, sure cant. i believe its the default "exclimation" as part of the computer's sound sceme... or very like it at any rate.

im (a lot) more computer savy then your average user, so its rare if i get even a tracking cookie on my computer (i havnt gotten anything worse then that in a very long time. when it comes to PC security, a litle paranioa is a GOOD thing). and even then, its gone poste-haste. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" />

And it's no level-up of the characters ?


Edit : I've got an idea : Maybe it's the sound indicating that the disc space runs low. The system wants you to give more space free, for example by emptying the trash box.

My intuition says that this could be it. Check how much space you've got left and how much is left while playing.

nah. ive got 16 gigs of free space on my 120 gig HD. lack of space isnt an issue.

Then that IS diskspace low.... since your windows will warn you if you get close to only 13% left on the drive.... (13% is what windows requires for its "system restore" services....)

nope. look, i COULD free up 50gigs of disk space and itld still do it. but nevermind as i think ive figured out for myself what the cause is, as its very consistant to particular actions i take in-game, it is game related not OS related. i still find it odd but, whatever.

yeah well, ive freed up more then the recommended 20% free disk space and it makes no differance. happens whenever i scroll away from the character im currently using to view some place else (like if im looking for missed chests, or whatnot with items still in them).

So, now you know when it happnes, and (since I'm kind of curious of nature) now I wonder why?
