We just had an interesting experience in the office that sounded a lot like the old adventure games.
Out heroine (the CEO's Personal Assistant) needed to get to the Petty Cash, but the person in charge of petty cash, the Finance Assistant, was absent. The Petty Cash Box is locked in a Filing Cabinet. The key for the Filing Cabinet is locked in the Finance Filing Cabinet. The key for the Finance Filing Cabinet is kept by the Finance Assistant. But thankfully there is a spare key in the Key Registry! The Key Registry is locked. Our heroine must ask the Finance Manager for the key to the Key Register. The Key Registry is located in a locked Storeroom. Only the Finance Assistant and the Marketing Assistant have keys to the Storeroom. Our heroine must ask the Marketing Assistant for the Storeroom key. Upon finally openning the Storeroom and the Key Register, the Finance Filing Cabinet key is not where it should be. Someone has misplaced it on another hook in the Key Registry. The key is only identified by the symbol on the key tag which matches the symbol on the Finance Filing Cabinet.
After all that, I'd rather just pay out of my own wallet and be reimbursed on Monday. I'd hate to see what would have happened if the Finance Manager or Marketing assistant were off sick or on lunch...
