It's not easy to get rid of a government without waiting for the next elections.

In may 1968 a lot of french people tried to get rid of the government of the Général de Gaulle.
Everything stopped during 2 months. Almost everybody was on strike.
But they failed !

Yep,

People in power don't like to give up on their good paying jobs and power.
The Belgian goverment of today is a perfect example too. Scandal after scandal. Stupidity after stupidity. Lies on top of a whole mountain of other lies.
And every time they simply say: "it's not important enough to resign this goverment and elect a new one."
It's never important enough.
They just want to cling on to their jobs. More and more. Becouse they know they will loose elections.
It's disgusting.

Actually we Belgians voted for in the last election. Most Belgians are pro, no-one I know is against anyway...

Offcourse there are things we don't agree with, It's not utopia, but a very good step in a more united and better europe.

Nope. The king is just a puppet.
Next national elections are next year or in 2007 or so.
It's hard to keep track in Belgium. Dozens of elections. Local, province, regional state, federal state, european,...

And all useless. After the elections the same team up every time anyway.

That was something different.
Belgians don't get to vote on the european constitution.
The parlement will vote on it.
That was an election to choose Belgians for the European parliament.

Becouse there are no others.

And latest years people been voting for extreem right parties more and more.
But then all other parties team up to keep the right party out of the goverment and themselves in power.
Also the politicians that in charge now created some lows that makes it impossible for new and/or little parties to join. Even when people vote for them.

And still...
people get forced to vote. And to work.
I don't like politics and the system in Belgium at all.

They should just apoint themselves every time again and save us the trouble and the money.

That would cost even more money. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif" alt="" />

And they would just be replaced by others.

Our old guillotines are still working very well, we can give them to you.

Yep but before that you can create a new law like this one :

If more than 50 % of the people are unhappy with the politic of the government, the president, the 1st minister and all the team are killed without judgement

With this kind of law, the government would do his best to make a good politic.

It sounds like Belgium has got a serious democracyproblem. And (quite understandably) the politics don't do much to improve the situation, it seems (quite the opposite). What kind of parties do you have? What are their politics?

the utopia we all wish for is impossible, true democracy: impossible. Some poeple want to have a say, others don't give a *****. Whatever system you're in you'll have to face the downside of it. I dislike the Belgian system to, but with whatever means you could possible get, the chance it gets better is little. All the "good" politicians fall off the wagon at one point.

The Belgian system is killing itself and even that everyone has some awareness of it, no-one seems to care enough, just more, better, and cheaper is all most parties seem to care about. As all systems do it will crash down someday.

Better sooner than later. Goverments have a responsibility towards the current citizents, and the comming citizents (they build for now, AND for the future), and it seems like the Belgian politicians only build for now, and don't give a damn about the future...

The people voted their conscience.
Good for them. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/up.gif" alt="" />

If the world does not like the vote outcome, get over it,
the people have made their choice.
