I can assure you, my sister, it doesn't only LOOK awful, it IS awful and it smells awful too. Now we are three days later (it happened on the 4th of july) and my house still smells humid. I hope this was a one-time thing, because like I hate to clean, I did nothing else but cleaning for 2/5 days, and I'm still doing that now. Everything needs to be scrubbed and polished and dried and washed. It's amazing how water can be your friend and your enemy. Lucky, there was only material damage, there are no casualties and I had my son and my dog back after three days. I had them evacuated with the firemen. Just in case... But one of my colleagues runs a large chicken farm, and the lightning had struck the stables, 18.000 14-day-old chickens are smoked to dead.
