@ everyone hmm the problem I Australia is, that being a waiter is NOT a profession any more, it is generally done by Uni students or Travellers (who are only allowed to work for 3 months in the same workplace)ergo since it is looked up on as a menial job, there are no full-time positions only casual as employers are weary of paying good money (and its benefits for F/T) for only a month or 3, heck I have had travellers who told me they where staying for 3 months and a week later left to go on to Melbourne or where ever <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/disagree.gif" alt="" />

The Restaurant Association has tried vainly for many years to get a course organised for qualified waiters, however the results are disparaging to say the least.

The general PoV of the ppl in Aus is why should I learn for say 2-3 years to become a waiter? if I can become a Craftsman (plumber,Carpenter etc) and make 3 times as much money.

Directly responsible for this attitude is the Government of some years back who happily advertised to all tourists that "In Australia you don't have to Tip" ergo the salary is not the best there are virtually no more tips and who the Heck wants to work in that Profession ?

This is why it is difficult to get ppl to work and stay <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/disagree.gif" alt="" />

I feel lonelly <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cry.gif" alt="" />! I'm alone at home (my parents is at our summerhouse, my brother is sleeping at a friend's house), and I've got nothing to do. And I feel lonely. And I'm longing. For something different, for a place where I'm not alone, for closeness... For something, not really sure what, but it makes me sad. And I have no longing music to put on to make me feel better <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/disagree.gif" alt="" />. The best I could come up with was Disintegration by Cure... Interpol's Stella works fine...

@ Mea -> sad to hear that but in malaysia, tipping has never been our culture so i don't really know the impact of such move as well as the absence of it.
