Ok, if you have your username and password, you can use the broadband modem as a regular modem (with all the speed benefits), but it still works as a "dialup" in the sense that you have to click "connect" etc....

Plug it in directly to the modem... and create a new internet connection...


chose connect to internet... (1st option)
set up my connection manually (2nd option)
connect using a broadband connection that requires a username and password (2nd option)
Type in the ISP name
Type in username and passwords
click finish and see if it connects

The router is set up with your username and password already... so it automatically connects on your behalf... with the modem you have to connect the old fasioned way...
