Just had another storm.... This time no damage <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" />

I am re-constructing my DVD-cover templates now.... what a mission just to be able to do backups that doesnt legally hold us responsible for data loss (a service we offer to clients - but not ourselves <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/silly.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/silly.gif" alt="" /> ) And i already have to print 64 covers.... been a bit behind with my work.... (wonder why?!?!?)

Lady Rain, better dig a *huge* room for all of your computer storage underground.
The only problem could be that rhere isn't any connection to the current beneath the earth ... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" />

To be more serious, if it would be possible to get all of this lightning force into some sort of storage ... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/think.gif" alt="" /> I mean it probably could fuel computers *for months* ...

The day they figure out how to do that... all of our cars will switch to power, no more gas ussage, no more oil or any fossil fuels needed <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />

And i am sure that it will cost us Much much less....

Next storm heading in fast.... so i am in the process of disconnecting the whole house AGAIN....

Its very uncommon for us to get storms this time of the year..... normally our storms are from sept - dec... this year its jan - current... and no sign of stopping...

anyone else noticed the weather being VERY uncommon this year???

I'd say weather is getting very uncommon EVERY year !

It's the big climate change ! We've blown too much fossils into the air !

It's supposed to be spring, and it's more winter than it was all winter <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/suspicion.gif" alt="" />. Lightning up now though <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> (still snow...).

it Tuesday am here and I have another day off, yay!!
it would have been fun if it wasn't for some lame ape on another topic, who felt qualified to criticize 1 of my favourite members here on the forum <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/disagree.gif" alt="" />

Reviewers are usually people who would have been poets, historians, biographers, etc., if they could: they have tried their talents at one or the other, and have failed; therefore they turn critics.
Author: Samuel Taylor Coleridge

You know who critics are?--the men who have failed in literature and art.

Or as Andrew Eldrich put it:

Question: I am unattractiv, sexually immachure, lazy, stupid and meen. What career would sute me best?

Answer: Journalism. If you fail there, try music journalism.

OK, that might be a little bit too mean. I mean, he probablly isn't stupid.

@ Ube -> at least he's smart enough to admit it. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />

@ Mea -> yeah well at least that creative buddy of ours handled the situation well & that makes me glad. not everything's disastrous & amidst the bad vibes in there, our friend found strength in his calmness.

@ Draggy & Lady Rain -> best check your house/building's lightning rod if it's in working order or not. get the electricians to find out. over here at my place, the *&%$#@ electrical contractors who wire new housing estates did such a patchy job that most of the time, u are lucky not to get short-circuit most of the time. the grounding is bad which makes excess electricity has no other way to go other than the intended place (which is the earth somewhere in your backyard, buried deep under) so the next best place is your electrical appliances. yep, PC too.

so for your own safety as well as to protect your investments (all your electrical stuff), have the electricians check the house/building grounding.

about the weather.

Quote
* About every 41,000 years, the earth's spin axis -- its tilt -- varies from about 21.5 degrees to about 24.5 degrees. Currently, it is 23.5 degrees. The more the tilt is the greater the fluctuations in temperatures are from winter to summer. Summers would be hotter while winters would be colder. Since the length of this cycle does not match the 100,000 year glacial cycle, it is assumed this can not be the primary cause of the ice ages.

graphic of earth's tilt

* Over a 100,000 year cycle -- which does match the glacial cycle -- the earth's orbit around the sun changes. It varies from being roughly circular to much more elliptical. Over a 100,000 cycle the earth's orbit cycles between these extremes, stretching more into an ellipse and the becoming more circular. On first analysis, scientists have determined the highly elliptical orbit creates more dramatic changes in the seasons when this cycle combines with changes in the earth's spin axis. The seasonal effects can be dramatic -- especially for whichever hemisphere is tilted more towards the sun in the summer -- when earth is closest to the sun in its elliptical orbit. (The same hemisphere will then be furthest from the sun and tilting away in the winter.) This cycle, I believe, is partly misunderstood and will be explained more in depth shortly.
* The third cycle is the earth's precession, or wobble. Just as a top can wobble as it spins, the earth's tilt wobbles. This precession goes through a 23,000 year cycle. Therefore, as the earth's tilt goes through its 41,000 cycle, the wobble goes through its 23,000 year cycle, therefore this combination changes how the earth's tilt is pointing over the 100,000 year cycle. (When all three combine in the worst possible way the seasonal changes in temperatures would be the most dramatic.)

We are not heading to an ice-age, but the wobble combined with our global warming and other nasty stuff we did to mother earth makes the seasons behave rather odd. Some meteorologists and other scientists claim this will only get worse the next decade, so poeple get better winterclothes, more sunblock and smaller bikinis <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" />

@ Dragh

A very impressive explanation indeed <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/think.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/think.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/think.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/think.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/think.gif" alt="" />

did you leave the part about near-extinction events out of the cycle on purpose? cause i believe that we are a couple of 1000 years overdue on that cycle....

remains of the day:
a lovely overcast day... so off we go to the drag races ( yea i love those events imensely ) got a couple of very close crashes there, no one hurt... and loved the jet-cars....
then came home in a VERY tired condition.... just woke up <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" /> all in all a lovely day <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />

A nice cold front on the way.... (normally these are our hottest months Feb - Apr) now we just have rain and COLD...
My mom is coming to visit tomorrow... so i have to go plant a herb bush she game me a month ago.... before she realises that i havnt planted it yet <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shame.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shame.gif" alt="" />

Finished all my filing (well almost)
still have to re-design our web page, and i am planning to put a lot of effort into that one.... but that will be weekend missions <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/freak.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/freak.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/freak.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/freak.gif" alt="" />

other than that.... had a fun day... saw new clients... and then discovered that the world is a small place... i knew them already, since i sold them a kirby a few months ago <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/stupid.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/stupid.gif" alt="" /> we had a decent giggle about that...

and tomorrow is one of my best-friend's birthday.... so i have to bake a cake, and i am hoping i can make a salt-tart (a bacon, egg, cheese and sausage filled "tart" )

All in all i cant wait for tomowwow <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bday_jump.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bday_jump.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bday_jump.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bday_jump.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bday_jump.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bday_jump.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/bday_jump.gif" alt="" />

Hello, I'd like to download this soundtrack from Evil Genius : http://www.strategyplanet.com/evilgenius/downloads/audio.asp

But it requires a registering to Fileplanet.

So, can anybody tell me why register and what happens if I register ?

well for gamespy i think they own file planet too

well in anycase its a place where thousands upon thousands of files are stored online

the catch you can do this for free, the only con to this is that you have to wait in line for downloading and sometimes its not fast because the server is busy handling a lot of people

if you can find the file elsewhere but if not you might have to wait in line for 30 minutes

nothing bad happens when you register
gamespy is used for some video games for mulitplayer
i guess im tring to say thats its sorta trusted

if it makes you feel any better i still have an free ad supported account there

Well, that was relatively easy. Negative : You must fill out the form with your whole adress - no street name and number required, though.

Negative : You must klick on "no thanks" if you don't want to be come a subscriber of file planet (subscribing includes a fee, like with newspapers). I can wait, also I don't lkike online paying, so I skipped this and used the "normal" registration.

Positive - the process is relatively fast.

A lot stuff to read ... yes, I take these things seriously.

Three passages that interested me most :

Was on a one day trip to Forsmark today. For those of you who don't know what Forsmark is (which I guess includes everyone but me <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/rolleyes.gif" alt="" />) it's one of Sweden's three nuclear power plants.

The bus (a bus hired by my school. The whole trip was arranged by my school) left for Forsmark at 6.30, so I had to get up pretty early. Therefore I'm tired now. So tired I think I'll fall over sleeping unless I keep active (I sure will sleep well tonight though <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />). It arrived about 3,5 hours later, at rouglly 10 o'clock.

The day itself was really interesting, and I feel I know a lot more about nuclear power now than I did a day ago. And the lunch they served in their restaurant was great. First time I had a decent lunch in the middle of the week (Friday, but still...) for ages, as a matter of fact. And they had a great sallad buffet <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/delight.gif" alt="" />. The sallad in school sucks, so to speak, and my parents are senile, so they forget sallad for our dinners, so I rarelly eat vegetables <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/disagree.gif" alt="" />. Try to eat a lot of fruit though... But anyway, a great day all in all (despite a slow trip home, and missing the bus home with two minutes, so I had to walk home (or wait 30 minutes in -10 degrees Celsius. You might call it free will, but there wasn't much of a choice in my book.)).
