There is no fixed BEST duo for the 2 characters...... but a lot of people prefer 1 ranged, and 1 melee character.....
Making the melee character lead, you can set the ranged character to automatically start firing at the enemy.... making it not only a good alarm system, but also a great defence while you ramaging through the loot.
