Animals have sex only for procreation and only during the period of procreation.
There are exceptions; dolphins have sex for pleasure and bonobos have sex to release the tensions, for example. ( <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" />@Stone)
But it's true that they don't force females who don't want to have sex. They don't beat them nor fight with them either, even in response to a female's very nasty blow.
