While there are many men who are indeed ratbags of the worst kind, the vast majority of us are not.
There have always been extremist Feminists with an anti-male agenda, and this is nothing new, nor anything to really get upset about, IMO. Feminism has done a lot of good things for women, but the agenda has not always been about equality, and that has been obvious for a long time, I think.
Just as misogynism is nothing new in men, so hatred of men is nothing new in women. Similarly, abuse is not just a one way street.
I like to hope that we as a species will someday outgrow the horrible things we do to each other.

In nature, there are many forms of sexual abuse, from packs of male dolphins who hold females prisoner when they are in heat (A recent discovery, and a quite appalling one, IMO) to female spiders who decapitate their partner during intercourse and eat him afterwards (Something thankfully not practiced by even the most fanatical feminists <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />). Nature is often not very nice to her children of either sex.
