I just got my first summoning doll (the skeleton...), and decided to experiment with him in the battlefield area. When I first clicked on him, I got a message that he wouldn't cross boundary lines, or something like that. That didn't seem like too big a deal. Well as soon as I got close to the bridge to cross the river, there was a flash, and Mr. Skull-Head disappeared. I figured that the bridge might be considered a boundary. So then I clicked on him again later when there were some enemies around, and he took like 2 hits, and disappeared again. Is he just that weak? Or is there something else going on? And why did he disappear as we crossed the river? Is that really considered a boundary?

Thanks! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ouch.gif" alt="" />

Quoting Raze:

[color:"orange"]There is a distance range that a summoning doll can move from where it is summoned (and a skill to increase this range). Leaving a doll standing where it first shows up, it will stick around indefinitely as long as you do not change levels (enter/exit caves, etc or the BF). [/color]

The summoning dolls will turn red just before they reach their limit. By boundary, the game was revering to doorways, stairs, cave entrances, etc. It was just a coincidence that the distance range was reached at the bridge.
The summoning dolls are not that tough to start with, but you can give them your old equipment (depending on the doll). If you are playing on Easy or Action, you can get better stats for the doll if you temporarily switch to Tactical before summoning them for the first time.

You can upgrade the summoning dolls' range and level, but be warned that these skills can not be unlearned. You do eventually succeed in getting separated from the DK, so it would be better to use his skill points to invest in summoning doll skills, rather than your hero's skill points (particularly if you might want to play in the after game BFs).
