As I make my way through Act I, I have gathered quite a few weapons and armor that have skill requirements way beyond my current levels (most of which from behind the armory counter using the summoning doll trick). I don't know whether hi-level weapons & armor will be readily available in later acts or should I make it a priority to carry these heavy pieces with me to the next act and keep them in the battlefields? My BF storage barrel is getting absolutely packed with these things. Should I sell? Should I hoard?

Also, I am also getting some amulets, belts, sashes, and so on. Most don't vary too much in armor levels, only in their durability levels, but I never notice their durability going down. What's the deal with them? Should I just keep one belt and one amulet? What makes these items take damage? For that matter, what makes one item take more damage than another? Is it just random? Do certain enemies target one item over another?

Incidentally, I do have armor durability +1 on my character.

Finding loot is one of the GUARANTEED parts of the game....

you can increase your chance of finding brilliant magical stuff etc, by increasing your "luck"....

I would sort out the equipment and keep the best 2 or 3 of each type. You will find more equipment, but keeping some in storage will give you an idea how you need to distribute your stat points to use a particular class of equipment, and they will be handy as soon as you level up enough to use them.

Later in the game you will find belts, amulets and rings with slightly higher armour levels, though for the most part you'll be upgrading based on the bonuses.
I don't recall ever having to repair a belt. I had to repair weapons once in awhile, and the hero's main armour, but that was about it (maybe gloves a couple times). Unique and set equipment do not take damage (at least in the act they are found, and I think in general).
