my problem: if i alt-tab out of the game i get a black screen and can do anything exept using alt-tab again. is this normal or not? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

Do you have WinXP? And how long do you wait before you alt-tab back?

I haven't tried in DD yet, but in BD you can alt-tab out pretty easily. But the thing is, you have to wait a bit, because your windows will have to load stuff into your memory from your harddrive, which takes time.

i have W98se and sometimes it alt-tabs out of the game for antivirus and kind(mostly i put all unnesesary thing off, but not always so...) and cause sometimes when i need to do something for my parents it takes pretty long and when i return still black screen. i then just use alt-tab and im back playing divine divinity. ow, i can get the bar with start and wich programs are running and so(normally the bar at the bottom of your screen) but when i click on something i just opens the program but my screen stays black.

Some people have had sound, video or stability issues when alt-tabbing out of the game and back, but I don't recall anyone else mentioning a black screen.

Can you hit Ctrl-Esc to bring up the start menu, or does the screen stay black as with selecting programs on the taskbar?

In the configuration program, you could try switching video modes, and see if that helps, or check for updated video drivers.

if i use the windows-button the start menu pop ups(never heard of control-esc before). if i use another driver(you mean the 4 ones you need to choose when you first wanna play the game right?) i get wrong colors, like the tomb(from the farao and cdv^) turns green where the light hits it. my mana bar is purple and so on. altough if i test it i have smoother resolution then the one i use now(strange, very strange)








P.S. does anybody knows a way to put your own music in dd? it kinda sucks if your fighting some creeps with a happy sound on the background.(i would like it more that when you start fighting some heavy music starts)

The music in DD is all in one large file, so there is no easy way to replace it, and no option to substitute music.


Someone thought control-escape was too complicated, so they added a Windows key to keyboards.
Have you tried hitting the Windows key, rather than alt-tab, to minimize the game?

There is a similar problem with weird colours that you could try the fix for, and see if that will let you use other video modes properly (yes, you understood correctly what I meant). However, even then the other video modes might not make any difference with alt-tabbing.

If you add the line to the end of your config.lcl file, make sure you hit Enter afterwards (the game expects the last line to be blank, and ignores it).

if i press the windowskey in-game nothing happens.
now i will try out theotherthng.

changed resolutions but still nothing. i havent had problems with any other game alt-tabbing out. but because i nolonger see the point to alt-tab out the game if you cannot do it while the game is loading, just drop the problem. thanks all.
