i don't know about good but i rate my experiences on fun <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" />

although in the past many have stuck with the final fantasty saga, i fell off the train a long time ago after i beat 8

my favorite suikoden series has been destroyed by konami
after suikoden II the games started getting "less fun for me"and "less fun for me"

having given up hope i am now out o the loop in looking for ps2 rpg games
but i do still rent them at the video store <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" />

there is the star ocean till the end of time.............wasn't fun for me

xenosaga.........i need to rent this.......but i can't pull myself to...my gut tells me i wouldn't like it :P

well jee chris was there any game that was fun for you or is everything half empty with you?

bite me

yes summoner 1 & 2
legend of legaia 2 or was it legend of legaia 2 extreme
arc the lad something
i can't remember if grandia 2 was a ps2 game

you have to remember they don't tailor games to be made just for me but i like very much a lot of the psx games more so then the ps2

thats why i can't think of anymore

otherwise its just hack & slash dynasty warriors, romance three kingdom die hard fan :P, and shoot em up games like call to valor finest hour i think thats what it was called

la finn :P

They made Grandia II for PS2 but it somehow lagged...like the processor in the PS2 couldnt keep up...but it was just in the over world map where you get the random encounters ala FF. Fantastic game though.

Ubereil: that is what im asking is there such a game?
Tragic: i think so, altough you got some games where you also have puzzles and that kinda stuff between the action.(to bad i dont got an Xbox, i would directly buy fable. seems like a good game to me. anyone ever played fable?)

Grandia II is somewhat like FFX, better story line and the battle system is fantastic.

Its an older game so the graphics arent unreal but they are still pretty good, and the combat moves/majik are fantastic.

My favorite RPG, there are no classes per se, you cant build a character ala D2 or anything like that but you have a caster a quick guy etc.

Very worth playing and would likely be pretty cheap at this point.

is the combat system turn-based? i hope not. i dont like it very much, altough in LOTR the third age it is the perfe<ct system to use your skills.

The combat system is time based. During combat, at the top of the screen there is a timeline showing all characters; the initial positions are based on the character initiative and whether it was a surprise attack. The characters' speed is reflected in how fast their icon moves along the timeline; when a character gets to the end, they have their turn.

For the turn, you can fairly quickly attack the nearest or a selected opponent, or you can defend yourself, move, cast a spell or use a potion or special move (IIRC). The action is paused when the interface comes up to make a selection, but combat moves faster than most turn based systems.
I played Grandia II on PC, and a gamepad makes the combat interface quite easy and fast to control.

The game itself is pretty linear, but does have a fairly good storyline.

Well, all I've can do in the Jade Empire deal is to hold my thumbs for it to come out on PC too. And that's what I'm doing...
