Alright, so I didn't enjoy the book that much. But that does NOT mean that it was a bad book. Heck no. Its just not my style of book, thats all. I don't really like the large explenations of, not how the organisations work (thats in there too though), but of the politics of those secret organisations. Most of the book was the recruitment (same old over and over), the slow accumulation of information that won't make the reader say "Oh! It all makes sense now!" because there's nothing we ourselves can connect, and the slow not so interesting progress of the terrorists.
The action scenes though, beautifully done. Excellent. Action-packed, detailed, adrenaline-pumping, and all those other words to describe a job well done. The problem is, there are only two such scenes, one of which is quite short. The rest of the action is very covert and not so intense, and also without much resistance.
And I personnally didn't like the writing style and thought he made some logic mistakes, but THAT I blame on myself for I think I became over-critical once I began to lose interest.
From all the acclaim Tom Clancy has recieved, I think I'll read another of his books, give his style another chance for my heart. Again, I reapeat, its NOT bad. I just didn't enjoy it, and so, as a result, I became a bit over-critical.
I'm not saying don't read this book; I'm saying give it a chance, and maybe you'll like the style, and maybe you won't.
Only one way to find out...
