I enjoyed The Magician's Nephew not because it had an well done story (I think many people would find it boring as it was an old style of child's fairy tale), but because of the way it worked. The magic, the different worlds, the creation (I'll say no more, as I don't want to ruin it)... lets just say I found his ideas very interesting and ejoyable.
The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe was also quite good, though it was deminished because I had already seen the movie. I think they did a good job of recreating it in the movie and that they even improved it. For that reason, it had a shade over it as I read. Still good if you haven't watche the movie yet.
Book three, The Horse and his Boy was even more different than the second than the second was compared to the first (and they were quite different). It had an Aladin style to it. I actually really liked it, and found it to be the best so far. It had very little to do directly with Narnia though. Bah, oh well, it was fun!
I move to the story of Prince Caspian . This one features our four protagonists from the second book. I also found this one to be very good. It also had its own tweaked differance of style than the second. I put it on par with the third book on my rank of favoritism.
Next, The Voyage of the Dawn Treader was again completely a thing of its own. This one became my favorite thus far with its constantly changing many adventures (though a new caracter starts off as quite the annoyance) and amazing ideas. Good stuff!
Following this, The Silver Chair (needless to say, a thing of its own, completely different than the rest) was another complete sucess. I rank it just before the fifth book, as it was once more an amazing adventure that had many turns and twists. I'm actually feeling bad that the series is ending...
And finally, The Last Battle ended it all. I won't say I was disappointed with it and its end, I wasn't, but it... Let's just say the whole thing filled me with anger, rage, pride for the heroes, encouragement, hope, pain, sadness, awe, amazement, enjoyment, etcetera, etcetera, etcetera... in that order. I rank this one along side of the sixth book. A great story and a great series.
