NIval games always had very good graphics. I am only worried about the voice acting, but then, Silent Storm had excellent voices ("Hav a gut var!").

I always liked homm 3 , 4 was less good, now lets hope this 1 restores heroes of might and magic in its old glory

Agreed. The third game is classic (meaning I've played it, and liked it very much ). The fourth game seemed less good, too small IMO (ie they focused on the wrong things, meaning graphics and others)...

They focused on the right things except that HOMM IV was buggy. Also they took away the ability to upgrade units which is scandalous. The fighting heroes was a nice addition as well as a much bigger ground. On the other hand, the 5 unit types per city was sad.

I never notice bugs (don't know why...), but H4 just didn't have the same feeling as H3. I allso agree that the removal of upgrades was scandalous. When it comes to the graphics, I still want my 2d with 3d models! H4 was too 3d for my likeing. It was allso too petit, H3 had more robust graphics... And most of all, the maps were too small...

The heroes was allright, but too weak for my likeing (have one decent troop of high level ranged creatures, and your hero was dead within a round).

Heroes 4 was as 2D as Heroes 3.

The heroes got killed easily at low levels. Get a hero to a decent level and he's a force to be reckoned with.

I think the Heroes Chronicles were the best, all of which used the engine from 3. 3 itself sucked, IMO. The campaign was just dreadful.

4 is very patchy, but one or two of the campaigns are quite interesting. Overall, I preferred 2 though, out of the actual HoMM original releases.

Even if I wanted, I couldn't argue with you, Elliot.
I did love the Heroes 4 campaign, especially the Half-Dead one. In addition, the new combat perspective brings the series closer to Ages of Wonders, my personal benchmark for all RTS-RPG games. The campaign of the 3 isn't great: I find it hard to even focus on the story: in a nutshell, I choose the campaign with the starting town I like and then play without reading the story-related letters and dialog.

Nival did some impressive games in the past. Besides the voices, the game mechanics they used were very effective. I believe Ubisoft will give the needed kick to Nival and Arkane to make both Heroes V and Might and Magic X memorable.

P.S. Welcome back!

Thanks, DevDict

On HoMM 5: I think I'll pick it up when it arrives. The series as a whole holds enough interest for me to do so

Completely agree on the Half-Dead campaign, BTW. Easily the best, IMO, though the Elven Lovers one isn't bad, either

Good, as i can see have some inteligent ppl here, what like of a good game serie, heheheh, just kidding, well i think too that the removal of upgraded units was scandalous, but this is back at homm5 as i could see at their website, i dont think is wrong invest in graphics if the gameplay is still good or better, the homm3 is a classic, was really cool to play, homm4 with the heroes actions addition was nice too, with a high lvl 40 paladin the computer killed with 1 hit 7 angels from my army at the final battle and took like only 30 dmg from 20 angels. The heroe itself becomes a lot strong at high lvls. I dont know when is the release but i saw some of their movies and i liked. I'll get it as soon as released.

I played the leaked alpha version and though you could do almost nothing and had only haven, it was great anyway!

What made H4 bad for me: 4 towns, with 5 unupgradeble creatures, H3 had 8(?) with 7 upgradeble creatures.
Between those 4 towns there was no balance.
In the beginning heroes where too weak, at the end too strong.
And some more stuff, dont know atm.

H5 will restorte all of those, im sure.

By the way, anyone hereo who happens to know the releasedate? Browsed through the homesite, and couldn't find it (they should seriouslly regard putting up a FAQ IMO).
