Do you have the
patch installed? There was a problem in the original release with learning some skills in the BF.
After learning a new skill it should show up in the list when you click on an open skill slot in the skills window. If you buy a higher level of a skill you already have, the level cap should be increased, allowing you to put more skill points into it.
Did you check both the hero and DK's inventory for gold?
