Ugg, I was the only person in the Interesting Facts thread, so I'm comming back here.
Here's the ones that I used up over there:
Did you know that the colour blue atracts flies twice as much as any other colour?
The rim of a dime (10¢) has 118 craters in it.
It takes approximately 14 826 000 000 000 fireflies to make the equilivant light of the Sun!
If you want to see them in more expression, detail, and humour, go
there .
But now for new stuff.
A slug or snail can travel across the sharp part of blade without getting cut, or hurt at all! The cause of this is the protective, mucus-y stuff that is all over it's body.
Salt kills (melts) slugs, snails, and leeches. Don't use it on slugs and snails (what did they ever do to you? ) but if you ever get a leech suckin' your blood, salt him away.
Another way to get rid of leeches is to burn them off (like with a lighter or something -- James Bond did that in Octipussy ).
Did you know that leeches cut a Y shaped wound in your skin with their razor-sharp teeth, latch onto your body with their suckers, and squirt a fluid into the wound to keep the blood flowing and to numb the area so you don't notice your hitch-hiker? Delightful, huh?
You've just been massively facted by:
Killerzzz
P.S.: Mucus is the technical term for boogers.
The more you know.
