Ok. I've noticed alot of different names in this forum, and I'm interested in hearing where they came from, how you got the idea to give yourself such an ALIAS, the origin of it. Of course, if the name of your name is too personal, than don't bother.
This is just so we can all get to know eachother better.
I don't have time to do it now, myself, but I will tonight.

Erik is what I rewferr to asa my first name btw, even though it really IS my second (my first is Nils...)).

On the original Nintendo, some of the games allowed you to enter your own names, up to 5 characters in length. I used Blade, Edge, Flame, Deth, etc but was never completely satisfied with any of them. Then one day, a depressing long time ago, I was listening to the song 'Ram It Down' from the same titled Judas Priest tape ( ... but at least I'm not talking about an 8 track). One of the lines in the chorus is "Razing the place to the ground". From the context I could figure out what 'razing' was, but looked it up in the dictionary anyway. The definition was something like 'to completely and utterly obliterate, to destroy down to the foundation'. I thought that was so cool I started using that as my primary nick for games, and have ever since. see also: ***Best Name for Character*** (name origins are not necessarily mentioned) I still have a few Judas Priest tapes (no CDs), but don't really listen to them anymore (I posted some of what I do listen to in the My Fav Lyrics topic).

There was another thread as well on this topic in which I poured my heart out, came clean, divulged my secrets and exposed my innermost feelings about my forum name.

Well well... seems another of my new ideas are old to the world... Oh well, I guess this one can be for the new people who want to take part in this, or those who missed it the other time(s). I've already talked about most of my name's name in one of my little miscellaneous ideas Massive Duplication , but I thought I would elaborate a little more here. I fist started with my ALIAS in the Battlenet of the first Diablo. Now, I wanted an intimidating name, you know. So I chose Killer; "Rar! Roar! I'm gunna kill you! Grrar!" . This was really early on, near Diablo's beginning. But then I thought "Killer is too plain. I mean, anyone can think of the name 'Killer'. Most unorignal. " I was a fan of the TV show Dragon Ball Z back then (I'm still quite knowledgeable of it, but I don't watch it anymore), and I thought "ADD A 'Z'! ADD A 'Z'!!! Henceforth, I am KillerZ!!! Watch as my impressive 'Z' strikes fear into the hearts of my enemies!" Of course, old Bnet being what it was back then, my account was somehow deleted the next day and I could not recreate it. But I kept my cool ( on the inside: ), and decided I'd get something better. So, also being a Zelda fan (especially A Link To The Past), I thought on the Trinity. "Three... Z.... Oooo! KillerZZZ! But now the ZZZ look cheesy! I know! Mix them with the name! 'Killerzzz' Now that flows better!" Another reason for putting the three 'z's was causing a plural sound. My siblings and I all used this ALIAS on Bnet and so, why not be the 'Kilers' --> Killerzzz!!! Another reason for putting the three 'z's is the triangular strength (yes, I mentionned this in the other thread too). The triangle is supposed to be the strongest shape (bridges and other constructions are build with triangluar supports, shelves are too; plus I dare you to try and punch a box of a different shape, then a pyrimidical one, and see what happens ; also the Magic School Bus told me so). I thought of doing, Killerzz, but two 'z's just plain looked crappy. And so, I've been using this nickname on darn-near everthing. My siblings tend to waver it (Killerzzz-[eg] ; Killer-Z ; Killerzzzzzzzzzzz; etc) but I stick to the original! And thats how I named myself Killerzzz. Killerzzz P.S.: Hey Ube, if your name is translated from German, would I get something like 'Super Hurry' or 'Big Hurry' or 'Much Hurry'? Because I know 'Uber' means 'Super' or 'Very' or something of the sort, and 'Eil' means 'Hurry', I believe. Just wondering.

Just wondering. Not bad. Actually, "Über" means "over" or "super" in the sense that "super" originally also means something being "over" something else. In the Forum of Relic, makers of "Homeworld" one moderator actually has the name "Überjumper". Without the two dots, of course, since English keyboards are not designed to use them. And Eile means "hurry", indeed.

Not bad. Thank you. Yaaay! I can almost speak German! I've got a vocabulary of six words now! And actually, most english keyboards can do the two dots ( Ü ) on letters, as well as the other accents. You just have to go in your computer settings and make it so that you can change your keyboard languages. After that, its just a matter of remembering what buttons do what accents. But I think you need to have Windows XP to do this. ç ë ê è é Killerzzz

Ok.. the origin of Lady_Rain....
WARNING!!! this is not what you expect... it has NOTHING to do with rain.....
Lady_Rain started out in 1999 In CapeTown South Africa. Andrew (Fiance) and i just moved from Johannesburg to cape town, and started our own business there..... (and internet café). I was a whole of 19 years old....
For the first time in my life i was far away from friends and family... (and when people tell you how important your family's support is.... believe it... you may not like them, but you do rely on them)
To make a long story short.... we had to work long hours to make the business work.... there was a fair amount of stress involved.... and the stress also had its effect on our relationship. To make things worse, the only other business partner that we had, started cheating us our of money... "borrowing" money from the business to go away for weekends... opening loans on the business name (btw, we didnt know about this until WAY afterwards, when companies wanted to sue us for payment....).
Now the only part where rain has anything to do with the story, is that by now, its mid-winter in CapeTown, which is always a dull rainy affair... Weeks (if not months) of drizzling, grey skies and cold winds. If i mean grey skies, i refer to the grey skies where you cant even see different shades of grey in the clouds....
Now this added to my growing depression.... S.A.D. (seasonal adjustment disorder) along with the state of our business and then still the constant fighting between andrew and I....
Now just because Murphy had to smile on our lives.... my car gets totalled in the parkind lot... (some drunk guy smashed into the back of it at about 200 km/h - irrepairable and no insurance). So now we running a complete losing battle.
So murphy smiles at us again.... I get violently ill... fevers, rashes, and nothing helps (not even the mountain of anti-biotics the doctors threw at me... Eventually i end up in hospital... where an old nurse (the type you would stereotype as old-clan-medicine-women, complete with the leather skinn and abundant wrinckles), gave me one look and booked me for a sonar....
The short version is that i lost a pregnancy and it went ceptic.. i never even knew until that moment that i was pregnant.... (turned out that i was about 12 weeks).
The depression went from Bad to ABSOLUTELY MANIC in the next week (i still blame it on stress, hormonal fluctuations and more stress, plus the fact that i had no family close by, and i couldnt tell my mom what happened, since i was not married....)
The following weeks were hazes of sleeping tablets, anti-depressants (which made me more depressed), more sleeping tablets, and eventually a few attempts at cutting my wrists, overdosing, trying to drown myself, jumping in front of busses etc....
This drove Andrew over the edge... he couldnt handle this... so our relationship ended (thank heavens only briefly). But this resulted on us closing the busines down and coming back to Johannesburg, where things started getting better for me.... I had my family again... my mom found out about the whole ordeal (i still HATE the person who told her - who discovered this thsi by going through my private files, and then misquoted it all to my mom, telling her that i had an abortion.... ) but even though my mom was past MAD, she was still my mom, and came to my resque... mentally at least.
in the weeks i spent after that trying to puzzle my life back together, the grey sky became a symbol of what i have been through, of the things i will never do again, of the mental instability that i will always avoid.... it also became a symbol of stupid desisions....
Lady Rain is everything that i will NEVER do again.... its the totem of "been there, done that, not going close to those waters again"

Know what it's like. It's like here sometimes. Really depressing . With the other things happening it's no wonder you got depressed. Quite a story. Maybe I'm well off. Unfortunantelly I'm a true pessimist, so I know I'm not . By the way, starting abuissnes at the age of 19 seems a bit too early imo (I'm not likelly to be out of school until earliest 21). Allso a mother who thinks of her unmarried daughter's lost pregnancy as "whore odeal" seems a bit out of this world to me. Stability is allmost like a chore for me. I allways strive for it, I allways avoid instabile situations, I kind of hate getting into 'new' situations (at least I dislike it). Übereil

Allso a mother who thinks of her unmarried daughter's lost pregnancy as "whore odeal" seems a bit out of this world to me. By the age of 19 i have already been out of school for 2 years, had my first diploma and was "ready" for the world.... or so i though... My mom wouldnt have thought of a lost pregnancy as a whore ordeal.... but since the gossip she heard.... was that i got an abortion (which at the time was illegal, and considered very immoral)... as soon as that got cleared out, she was fine with it... still didnt like the fact that i wasnt married... but i wasnt in "trouble" anymore with her... You are now 25 (maybe 26), and you're seven years older than me ! Lol its no secret, i am 21!!!!! (with 5 years experince) Stability is allmost like a chore for me. I allways strive for it, I allways avoid instabile situations, I kind of hate getting into 'new' situations (at least I dislike it). I love stability... BUT the more i try to reach it... the less i seem to get it... but one day.... i am sure...

I love stability... BUT the more i try to reach it... the less i seem to get it... but one day.... i am sure... Like Leia Organa said to Tarkin : "The more tight your grip, the more systems will slip through your fingers" ... Please take this as a good advice. I mean it. The more strength you put into this, the more it will escape you - I'd rather say try to embrace it as a friend, or like it was an animal - but never put the pressure on it. I wish I could say "the more you let the pressure go, the more it will come to you", but I cannot foresee your future. I'm no person which can do that.

There are lots of things you don't learn at school. I don't want to be mean or something, but...
Back on topic; I chose that nickname for several reasons. La fille = the girl in French. I often talk about myself using the 3rd person, refering to "the girl" (especially when refering to silly/dumb/distracted-Me). Also, I found that it does an original, anonymous nickname.
LaFille,
