Larian Studios Forums Beyond Divinity (English) General Corinna and the summoned Demon

Ok, I been stuck on this problem for a week now. I am a level 25 warrior…

I obtained the three items:
-Magic Branch
-Wine
-Book from Penumbra

I returned to Corrina, gave her the items and then followed her to the basement.
She instructs me to stand in the left pentagram which I do. She summons a wicked demon then goes out of control and kills Corinna, then within a split second kills me in one whack. If I try to run out of the basement, it says I failed the quest because Corinna was dead. I cant do anything about it because Corinna is killed in an uncontrollable cut scene.

If you look carefully, you'll notice that the tree branch is not removed from the pentagram during the summoning. You need the talking tree branch from the Dark Forest, not the fake one from Mpenzak.

The alchemist in the Dark Forest also has a quest for you at the tree, which you may want to get before approaching it (the quest item is not there until you have the quest). You can talk to the tree at most twice without it turning hostile, depending on what you say to it.

Thanks guys.. I got one more question. If and when I find this real branch, I saved my game after I gave Corinna the "Fake" magic branch. Can I still give it to her?

IIRC you can still pick up the branch from the floor... she will then tell you that you need one of the ingredients, and you should be able to give it to her.... (or you can pick up the one from the floor, and put the real one down.... )

If you saved after giving her the branch but before the summoning, then there is a way to get it to work. If you saved after she died, you can get her back as a merchant, but can not talk to her about any quests, etc.

Fix for giving Corinna a fake Talking Tree branch


If you have not done so already, installing the patch will add a second quicksave slot (by default, you can increase that number), and it wouldn't hurt to save under a unique name before completing quests, exploring new areas, etc. If you have a re-release version of DD it may already be updated to the latest 1.0034A version, as shown in the bottom right corner of the main menu.
