You just left click (yes I think it was left, otherwise right, but in any case simply click) on the weapon. A small menu will open showing empty spots, five in this case. Simply drag a charm into one of the spots and voila: your weapon has been enchanted.

In your inventory or wearing it: this should make no difference.
Check out Barta's link anyway!

The item needs to be equipped to be able to left click on it and open the charm slot window. Try raising the game resolution; the charm window may be opening off screen (though that usually only happens if you had opened a charm window earlier playing at a higher resolution and then lowered the resolution, or exploited a bug in the unpatched game that allows you to open multiple charm windows). See the link above for details, or this version;

Oh ok, it really needs to be equiped first. Thanks for clearing that up

Yes, when you are sure the equipment you are about to charm will be permanent: choose wisely. I only use silver or golden charms on those.

Charming is great, no matter what kind of character I play, I always invest five skillpoints in it.

Not really no, you just have be lucky. Random drops is how I got 90% of my best charms.

Blake in Ars Magicana sometimes sells charms, though not as often as Kistandalius has them; Corinna or (less often) Mpenzak in Verdistis can also sell charms. Some people have found charms pickpocketing the castle soldiers, though I don't know what the chances of them having one are.
The lizards in the Verdistis sewers and Dark Forest can sometimes drop charms.

If you quick save before running your mouse over an item/chest/merchant or hitting the alt key, you can identify the item or trade with the merchant, then quick load to get different stats or inventory. This can be done repeatedly to get the best stats or specific bonuses on an item (save after finding good candidates) or looking for specific items (such as spell books or charms) from merchants. Don't waste too much time with this, though, it really isn't necessary to get the best possible equipment.

I found a lot of golden charms in the Waste Lands. Those imps liked to drop 'em

[color:"orange"]has anyone ever found one with agillity.[/color]

Yes.

There are 10 types of charms, so you should have about a 10% chance on average of getting one for agility. Certain NPCs may be biased in what they offer for sale, and certain monsters may be biased in what they drop (I didn't check either), but you will eventually find agility charms. I collected charms, and near the end of the game 6 of 59 silver charms (10.2%) and 7 of 58 gold charms (12.1%) were agility.

It's just because the charm is not called "agility" but "dexterity".
There is also intelligence/mana and constitution/vitality.

Exactely. The dexterity one confused me to the first time I played the game. I was looking for agility and it turned out I had four golden dexterity charms in my inventory! I was able to up my agility with 40 points all of a sudden
