DD was the very first RPG...actually...very first video game I've ever owned...
I bought it for $9.99 CDN....so my expectations were pretty low, actually...
Two months later, I'm obviously an addict...have been through the game a few times in different personae....(and I can't seem to find any of the sequel games in town!! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cry.gif" alt="" />)
Seeing as it's been a few years since it was released, I know the graphics are a big behind the 8-ball...but my main complaint (other than being forced to kill wolves, which I really don't like to do) is that I kept jsut wanting more.....
There are sections in the sewers and near the mountains in the Dark Forest, where you can see that there's more to explore, just beyond where you can walk, and I just keep wishing there was some way to get there and have new secrets to hunt down.....*sigh*
Buncha #*$in' teases!! *sniffle*

You can get around outside the play area by using Flash Attack if there are enemies there (in one section of the mountains in the Dark Forest and sometimes in the sewers), but if you can not teleport out, you will need to leave an enemy alive to get back out (you can not walk in most places outside the normal play area).

You can also toss a teleporter stone into various places to teleport there (as in a way out, if you're Stuck in the Easter Egg Area), or more technical, Teleporting Anywhere, via hex editor.

To clear as much fog-of-war as possible, try a combination of;
  • Max Elven Sight (much more effective) and Ranger Sight (if you have the skill points to spare and really want to maximize your sight range).
  • Keep any equipment you find with sight bonuses, to use when exploring.
  • Toss a teleporter stone onto/into inaccessible regions and move around by repeatedly tossing one stone and teleporting to it (you are not suppose to be up on most mountains, across the river in the south east corner of the dark forest, etc, and will not be able to walk there).
  • Cast Wizard's Sight twice in the same location (cast it a second time before the fog-of-war fills in again from the first, and it will remain clear). Hold the shift key down to move the screen focus away from your character and towards the area you want to clear.

The results of other people's explorations can be found in the topic;

excellent

the Rivellon/Verdistis/DarkForest part: is the best game I've ever played in my life.

And then came the Wastelands... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ouch.gif" alt="" />

I found the Dark Forest and Wastelands had too much unused space, also the somewhat random dragonrider encounters in the Wastelands was annoying, and apart from putting too many swords and axes ingame as opposed to other weapons (hammers, maces etc which I think are cool), and the low power of top spells ingame, which ruins replay value somewhat (I've tried replaying again, with hammers, maces and spears, but it just didn't last, as I knew I would only find a better weapon right at the end of the game, or after I bothered to lockpick the Dwarven Kings chests)this is the best game I've ever played

And I didn't like BD

That sums it up <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" />

I am in blood
Stepp'd in so far, that, should I wade no more,
Returning were as tedious as go o'er.
