One of the (very few) things I didn't enjoy about DD was killing the wolves..... In any new incarnation of the game, I'd appreciate a way of stunning, holding (energy cage doesn't work, I tried...) or even befriending hostile animals...maybe you could even get info from them, if you chose the right skills — it would fit right in with a ranger/druid type character. On the same note, I do love that the kitty in Aleroth hangs out with you, and I make a point of petting it whenever I'm in the village...(I felt kind of sad gathering my stuff up from my homebase and preparing for Divine-ness...knowing I was leaving kitty all alone in the village....oh well, he had plenty of bunnies to eat....)

I agree, I hate having to kill wolves. I felt the same in Baldur's Gate when having to kill wolves and large felines. Oh, I love what you say about Kitty! I do the same thing The last time I played Divine Divinity, when I was gathering the council members, the orcs in Aleroth actually attacked that poor little cat! I killed all the orcs in town (checked and double-checked), yet the next time I entered the village Kitty had been slain! I immediately learned the Restoration spell and brought him (or her) back to life. Strange how you can get attached to a digital cat. It's just that I always imagine it's one of my real cats

Those orcs are *%$%ing lucky they didn't do that to MY kitty....I'da ripped their digital hearts out!! ... and then resurected them, so I could start on their spleens!!!! (do NOT mess with a she-mage's kitty!!) Actually, the Aleroth kitty looks JUST like my own furball, which is probably why I'm so attached to it....even if my kitty is sitting right on my lap the whole time.... (I admit I've redone about 2 hours worth of gameplay after a mistaken click of the mouse made me accidently kill a cat in the Wine shop....hmmmm......wait a minute...the MOUSE.....it was a set-up!!. The MOUSE made me do it!!!.....)

At the time these games were released their graphics were quite good as I recall. Especially Shadows of Amn.

In my opinion, Shadows of Amn still looks great. Not as smooth as Divine Divinity, but still great. And anyway, it's especially the gameplay that counts, no?

The gameplay is allso terribly old . And D&D 2nd edition sucks.

Ok, third edition rules are a lot better, but can you honestly say you think Baldur's Gate I and II aren't good RPG's?

Never said that (allthough BG1 got really boring as soon as you got to Naskel mines). Just said they were old, looks old, plays old, and that I therefore didn't like them.

What pretty animals ? Übereil Ub You have to read a topic since the beginning and not only the last post. We are talking about killing the wolves, about Kitty in Aleroth and about pets in the next Larian games. Back to pets than Well in any case, I would love it if cats and dogs would run around again in villages. It's one of those things that makes a game come to life.

As long as they don't all start attack just because you were attacked by a wolf in the middle of a forest...

Übereil That's what I'm saying...I want another way to relate to the animals....especially the wolves I hated hearing that 'yip' evertime I had to kill one...(however, none of the dogs have gone hostile on me....) A necromancer...or some type of evil mage could control the spiders and beetles and have them to their bidding....a 'cat' burglar' could have the town's kitties telling him when the coast is clear....dogs would be drawn to a noble paladin (but perhaps hostile to the cat burglar)....or a druid or ranger type could actually talk with the animals at high enough levels..... Either way....a 'charm' or 'energy cage' or a non-lethal strike should be available for dealing with animals who are hostile...not nice to kill them all.... Besides...a non-lethal attack would be welcome in situations where a whole heap of mind-controlled soldiers try to kill you too....i never did feel right about wiping them all out.....

Übereil was actually making a joke In , when you accidentaly kill one animal of a certain species (that was non hostile), all fellow members of that species become hostile throughout the entire game Way to hold a grudge!

I think that happens in DD, too...at least I've read here from people who were attacked by dogs throughout the game....and the one time I TOTALLY ACCIDENTALLY killed a kitty....the other kitty in the room started to attack me...but I reloaded cuz I don't think I could have finished the game killing all the kitties...
