I didn`t like this too. I also didn`t understood sudden hostility of dogs and cats. Killing them wasn`t my favourite activity.
I was kind of confused about the sudden hostility of dogs. I never killed one (until they began attacking me) and the only thing I did remotely to anger one was kill a pig and chicken at a farm, possibly within sight of the dog there. Now all dogs in the game hate me. Hopefully this will never happen to cats as well!
