I am currently having problems with accessing the two guilds stated above.

I had the black map problem for Verdistis, and my PC won't install the patch.

I have already encountered Yarun, but now the cupboard is locked again and I cannot access the assassins guild because of it.

For the Thieves guild, I cannot pass through the Eastern door in the Ducal Inn cellar, even though I am already a member of this guild.

Help would really be appreciated!!!!

You need the patch for solving this kind of problem.
Why your PC won't install the patch ?

Did you get the quest to investigate the Duke's murder from Commander Ralph ?
Have a look at your quest log.

I don't remember well but i think you have to free Penumbra for opening all the doors.

The patch checks the registry to get the install path for the game. If it can not find that information in the expected format, that may be why it will not install. The end of the manual install procedure in the Troubleshooting Tips topic contains a link to a registry file you should be able to use to get the patch working, and instructions on how to edit it if you did not install to the default path.

Unfortunately, the patch can not fix this problem retroactively, but there are workarounds to get back into sealed locations and replace any lost quest items that were on the ground in Verdistis (though it doesn't appear that you lost anything important). Either of the posts below will let you get back into the guilds.

FIX for the Missing Catacombs Portal

Teleporting Anywhere, via hex editor

I will have to reload one of my old saves to get the coordinates for the assassin's guild, and will update hex teleport post. If you want to use the catacombs post's file swapping procedure, I can also get the required data file.

Once you get into the guilds, they both have levers which open doors into the sewer, so you will hopefully be able to get back in again that way, if you need to.

Thanks!

Yes, I have found both doors leading too/ from the sewers, earlier today.

I have downloaded the patch, but when I go to install it, it states that it is not a valid Win32 application.

I think that the problem with Assassins Guild came from the black screen I got, but I've seen in other posts that others have had the same problem with the Thieves Guild door. (One that I really want to get past, as I only need the Holy Dagger to have all 3 sacrificial items)

These wouldn't be quite as important matters to bypass usually, but I am trying to finish off all the quests in this section, before I move on to the Wasteland (I only have 1 council member left to get) <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" />

That error message generally means there was a problem during download, and the file is either incomplete or corrupt. Try downloading it again.

The black screen problem can reset all quest opened locations. There is an alternate way to get the holy dagger, though it is essentially the same technique as the catacombs fix.

Sorry, I don't quite understand what has to be done when using the Lost Item Editor. (I'm only 12)

There is no lost items 'editor'; the post describes a procedure to temporarily swap files in your saved game folder (which keep track of your inventory) with a set containing a required item. After loading the save with that and dropping the item on the ground, you need to save again and restore your original set of inventory files. Make sure you save under a new name before attempting this.

Are you familiar with file management type stuff (moving/copying files or folders) using Windows Explorer, or can you get someone to give you a hand?

Check your PM (click 'My Home' in the top menu bar, then 'Received Private Messages').

Okay, I've looked under my newest saved game folder and have noticed all the items, inventory, maps, etc.
Is that where you copy the items too?

Oh well, I still don't quite understand, so I'll send my latest save to you , thanks!
