Yip, I ditto the BD character import.... Unless they have better character selections.... Maybe added to the normal character selection of Male/female/child.... a couple of basic races to choose from...
[color:"orange"]Dwarf(with a natural dislike for elves - so any trading / dealing with elves, will start with a negative influence) Human (natural dislike for Imps, lizard folk, and orcs - same trading disadvantages) Elf(natural dislike for dwarves -again affecting NPC's attitude towards you) Imp(Any merchant will have a dislike in you - and possibly refuse to trade with you until you do a quest or bribe them, or whatever you can do to improve their attitude) Orc (Natural dislike to Humans - gets attacked in human towns - merchants refuse to trade with you till a quest is completed etc) Lizard (hmmm do they dislike anyone? or are they just uncommon?) Dark elf - Drow (Heheheh my kind of character, evil and disliked by anyone until you prove yourself to them)
Another think i would love from BD, Summoning dolls.... but with a small difference.... they must be able to walk around with you... not be area bound.... rather time bound... being able to summon them for 5 minutes, and then a time penalty of 10 minutes before you can bring them back....
[color:"pink"] Hmmm something new.... A armour / weapons smithy who can make weapons to your specifications... (the higher the specs, the more the cost obviously.... Being able to take current weapons to a priest / wizzard to either add resistances, or make them charm-able... again a hefty price tag to the amount of charm slots.
A skill system fairly similar to BD, if not slightly less complex for first time players.
Teachers - but again with a slight differance... instead of just learning the skill and then still having to invest skill points in them... Learning them at the basic level of 1, then spending time practising them when you want to better your skill. (I vaguely remember a game called revenant with a similar learning structure, though it was very limited... combat only) Instead have a weapons master, a smithy, a wizzard, priest, and healer (and whoever else is needed) to teach you the basics and taking you to a certain level.... then finding another more advanced teacher to take you to higher levels.

Summoning dolls - agreed, make it so that you can perform certain spell on them so you can get a different class.
Skill system - for weapons yes..magic i dont know but for non-combat skills no, <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/div.gif" alt="" /> skill system is more than adequate.
Weapons-slashing- speed,double damage,critical blow,accuracy..each has a max level of say 4.
So 16 points in your prefereed weapon and the rest on other skills.
If the max level is say 10 most people like me will just invest in those boostables and thus spend 40 skill points on them instead of say other skills.
I feel it would be a pity to invest so much in the main weapon skill and not on the other skills so we need to discourage too many boostable levels.
I like the different races idea <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" /> Dark elves are mentioned in the <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/div.gif" alt="" /> game. It would be interesting to have say a disguise like <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beyond.gif" alt="" /> Act 1 so you can walk amongst them..assume the Dark Elf village was underground, like the Dwraves but not made of stone but of say tree roots and vegetation.
More deathknights!!! Damian is back..there must be more of his followers around!!

I agree with the less levels on the skill system... but i like the variety of the skills in BD.
As for the dark elves... most books picture the dark-elve cities, as cities of dark marble and onyx (where dwarves, prefer lighter stone), with domed temple roofs and exquisite houses (a house is not considered mere living quaters, but rather a "clan house" with 30 - 40 members in the household, excluding the servants and soldiers... for the purpose of a game, i doubt that all the members will be present, but it should still be given as a grande structure, rather than a common house ) There are training academies of fighting, wizzardry, and temples for priestesses - the females rule the dark elves, not the males. Dwarves on the other hand, is more known for their practical and solid structures, square shapes etc. Dark elves build their cities with lots of magic, rahter than hard work...
I think it should be possible to instead of disguising armour, to have a disguise spell, where a dark-elf can pass for a normal elf/human/dwarve etc, and vise-versa
dark elves should also have the native ability of back-stabbing and sneaking, since their entire existence depends on that in their cities.
I like damian... as long as all the death knights have his sense of humour <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" />

The ability to unlearn a skill and get back the skill point.
One of the most underated things you can have in any game...
Oh yes friendly imps <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
Arrows!! The dfferent types of arrows are cool too, it saves having to get the skill as in <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/div.gif" alt="" /> but maybe they can be found or produced by a skilled flecther..i.e you can make a fire arrow yourself..i think thats in <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/beyond.gif" alt="" /> if I remember. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/think.gif" alt="" />
The crystal bag!! Why not! an ideal way to gain some resistances.
Disguises: So you can wander in potentially hostile places

There's a similar thread about Divine Divinity. There are some Beyond Divinity related issues in there too.
I am in blood Stepp'd in so far, that, should I wade no more, Returning were as tedious as go o'er.

Love all the ideas. Love my summoning dolls, but wonder why some of them are restricted from using certain weapons: like the Rannar elder can't use a bow, but doesn't have a high armor class, so gets killed a lot trying to use a sword. And why can't dolls use unique items? That Decapitator axe would be a good axe for her to use, but I can't even put it in her inventory. The arrows for every occasion are great: and I would like to see, in addition to bows that do piercing, bone, and shadow damage maybe some that do ethereal or fire or water like wands and special swords do. That way you could blast an ugly ghost with all ethereal instead of mostly piercing and some ethereal. I wish they could fix the map so it doesn't go black in the BF when you load a game. I would love to keep the game playing 24/7, but... I could do without that a**hole Asmodeus, and I wish they would change some of the NPC pics. I fondly remember the smith Geoff fromm DD, and had to kill the same face at the end of Act 1. I would like to see the Divine One show up and Quest my new character to hunt down Damian in the next game. I would like the DO to show up occasionally with information and teaching. Maybe we could even see Damian pull a Darth Vader redemption scene at the end when I beat him bloody (again).

Kiya's crypt will be open after you rise up in the ranks enough for her to challenge you to a dual (towards the end of the act). There is a guy in the building west of the bulletin board at the entrance of the temple complex who can tell you about ranks and show you your current position. Welcome to the forum. BTW, when you are looking at the topic listing for a forum, there is a 'New Topic' button just above the top of the list, on the left (and just under the header graphic and orange-text forum menu).

Why all of these question- and exclamation marks ? Looks childish to me.
