data file with the requested skill points (though that file probably wasn't your problem).
For the gold, try editing again with your characters in the main game, rather then the BF (your edited inventory file in one of my old saves crashed the game when loading). One person reported problems using the procedure in the topic
For you cheaters out there (The Duplication Trick) to duplicate gold in the BF, but it worked fine in the main game. That could be an issue when hex editing, as well.
Alternately, the latest patch may have altered the format gold is stored in (I don't recall if I checked that or not).
