Unfortunately the change is permanent, so there is no easy way to restore your character except by reloading a previous save. When polymorph was made permanent during the game's development all of the polymorph traps were suppose to have been removed, but 2 in the Verdistis sewers were missed. A spiritual resistance of about 10 is enough to avoid the trap.
There is a non-easy way to restore your character, however;

BTW, if you edit your post in the other forum, there is a 'delete this post' button beside the 'change this post' button, which will remove the topic, as well (as long as nobody replies to it). This will not drop your post count.
