I don't know about re-installing, but a fair number of people have posted trying to find where the non-existent CD key is. Starforce's error message isn't very clear, and the disk labeling on the North American release doesn't help.
I think the reason is this :
When Starforce doesn't recognize a disk, it prompts for a key. I know that in severe cases customers can apply such a "key" (at least I believe it's some sort of "key") from Larian directly. I think that's what's meant.
As long as Starforce does recognize the actual gameing disc, it clearly doesn't need any sort of key ...
