Larian Studios Forums Divine Divinity (English) Help/Tips/Tricks Problem with item editor

I toyed around with it when I started the game. Increasing the resistances on an amulet and rings. When I got the Larian armor I loaded a few times to get better stats on it. At one time it had Armor 410 but the bonuses weren't as good. Eventually I got some better bonuses but the Armor was less than what I was already wearing. I wanted to use the editor to put it up to 410 like I had before. When I loaded the file it reached about 90% then stopped responding. Could the items.000 file be too large?

Also is there any way to make new items instead of editing ones you find? If I were to increase the durability of a shield it strikes strikes me as odd for it to still have the name of an item that usually has lesser durability.

How large is your items.000 file? There is a limit on the number of entries the editor can handle, but I don't recall what that is off the top of my head (maybe 10,000?). It can read my 2.2MB items.000 file from a save at the start of the wastelands fine, containing 5922 entries.

Are you using v1.4 of DAD's item editor (listed in the title bar of the program window)?

There is no way that I know of to create new items, as opposed to editing existing ones. In the item editor you can select and edit the listed name.

Any idea how many items that would be?

A 2.7MB items file from the end of my game contains 7173 entries. Comparing to the file sizes you mentioned, this would imply an item count of about 11,300 and 12,300 respectively. An items.000 file with 10,000 entries would be about 3.7MB.

In the announcement topic for v1.2, DAD said "It handles items.000 files up to 5MB. It allows as much as 10,000 items in a list." (the topics for versions 1.3 and 1.4 do not mention any changes to these limits).

How long did you wait when the program stopped responding? DAD did mention 5MB, so perhaps the program was just taking awhile.

Just tried it again now. At 88% the field where the list would show up changed to beige. I can't minimize or drag the window. After letting it sit for 2 minutes no change. The declared number of items is 11,318. I guess that means my game went over the limit.

Can you click on any of the group categories? If the program doesn't completely choke when going over the limit, it may still display individual categories of items.

Nope. The program window is completely locked up as should be indicated by inability to minimize or drag it. I have to close it with Task Manager too.

hello every1. I'm new here. I have a problem downloading the dad's item editor. I tryed from the link above but it only downloads about 1Mb and when i try to open it it shows an error screen about a corrupt file or something. Ps Everything else i download from other sites is working so i don't think is my PC's fault
