A small earthquake on Anzsac Day, 25-Apr-2006, caused a cave-in in a gold mine in Beaconsfield, Tasmania. Three men were trapped in the rubble. Two days later, they found the body of the first one at the controls of a machine. The machine was blocking further access into the tunnel. They came in from another direction. A week after the earthquake, they made radio contact with the other two survivors. After drilling a pipeline to the men to give them supplies, they spent the next week drilling a new tunnel to rescue the men. They walked out fit and healthy at 6:00am this morning.

This has been like a moon landing for us!

Had not heard of it either, but wow, what an experience. Bet they'll have a brand new look on spoiling food, at least for a little while...
Nice that it had a happy end, and it seems to have brought a lot of people together, which is always good.

When you find a big kettle of crazy, it's best not to stir it.

Anzac Day is the day of rememberance and respect for the Australian and New Zealand troops that fought at Gallipoli. It's usually completely unrelated to earthquakes.
