If you hold the Ctrl key down it will target the enemy nearest the mouse cursor. This helps prevent accidentally attacking a friendly creature, and reduces the amount you have to move the mouse around.

Playing a warrior there was more than enough crappy or broken stuff around to loot to trade for health potions. All the expensive axes, etc in the Aleroth catacombs I could stash in a chest and repair and sell / trade them once I found better merchants.
Once you get up a few levels, restoration potions are more effective than individual health or mana potions.

In my first game the dragon rider dropped a gold strength charm, but most of the time he doesn't drop a charm.
