Since you mentioned dungeon crawl, I just finished 30+ levels of Darkstone if you count Draak's Lair.
I was definitely crawling near the end, since my spell caster fell behind in levels. It felt like I was baby sitting her through out the rest of the game. She was the one with a light spell, so I basically started running levels twice just to be able to see better.
Then I got smart and just turned her into my mule, camping her at the beginning of the last eight levels. Which wasn't that bad because I could past off items to her from the menu, even if she was on the other side of a dungeon.
I also found another trick with her vision spell that helped a lot near the end and darker levels. If I set allowed mana and defaulted to her vision spell, she would cast it over and over by herself allowing me to explore on my own. This helped with seeing a little better and showed all enemies on the map.
This was enough to inspire me to finish the game, because after all who wants to drag around a useless character. It felt like team work once again and Draak was vanquished! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mage.gif" alt="" />

Never finished the game back in the days because of online shooters. Just installed and patched Vampire Redemption and plan on completing it!
