Yes, Sacred is quite good, played it myself and enjoyed it a great but, until the hacking & slashing became too boring to me.
But it has some nice features, for example characters riding and fighting from horseback. Even undead horses are there to be used for riding !
What always concerns me, however, is the thought of what could've become of the original Armalion game which Sacred was until its developer, Ikarion, went out of busoness and Ascaron bought the remains and made Sacred out of it.
Armalion was meant to be a full-blown RPG game, seriously, with no such an "hack-fest" like Sacred was later to be.
An insiders note : You can still see symbold in Sacred of the old Armalion game : There are still symbolds of the old "Dark Eye / Realms of Arcania" gods and goddesses there, because Armalion was built upon the "The Dark Eye" / "Realms of Arcania" RPG system and world. But since I think very few people know this system outside of Germany, a,lmost no-one would recognise these symbols in the game.
One example is a red circle with an arrow, often found on shierds. It looks a bit like the sign indicating male sex. This red sign is the sign of Rondra, the Goddess of war, honour and lighning in The Dark Eye.
Another sign in the "broken wheel", a wheel which looks like a wheel of an carriage or coach, but only that it is half an wheel. This represents the wheel if life, whgich is broken, and is the sign of the God of death and sleep, Boron. It can be found as floor tiles in very rare cases.
The shapes of the black cult members were in Armalion priests of Boron, and this goes for several other types of enemies as well.
In the German version of Sacred, me and Sisaya, who is here in the German section with the name Rei, are also in the game as NPCs (haven't ever discovered myself, though If someone has a picture for me, it is more than welcome. ).
