My assumption on the 'snacks' are that we had our backpacks taken with us. If I would normally have it in a backpack I was carrying than it's there - limited supply of course. We have to find a local food supply soon.

One thing that was agreed on when you were gone is that instead of being level 1 characters, we're more like characters with amnesia and some things we know how to do but don't know why we know them. Some things we have to relearn, such as spells.

It's not to late to change this assumption, but since so many of the people were writing their characters 'above' lvl 1 or 2, it seemed the best route to go.
