I'm tending toward not leveling up.

Instead, I think we could watch our skills, spell capabilities, riches, political powers, and so forth. To me, character levels should vary with age, situation, maturity, and infirmity.

For instance, if I was drunk or sick, I shouldn't be able to perform up to my best capabilities. And, if I practice a lot with my dagger, then I should eventually be dubbed a "master" with that weapon -- as long as I keep practicing.

With BeeGee's character, I intend to coax lockpicking skills until I can pick any lock in the world (except for the super-magical quest-related ones, of course). That should take time and constant practice.
