Before BD was released I think Starforce was suppose to be the latest and greatest copy protection around.
That was my impression, too.
By the way, I heard of an Adventure called "ANKh" released here in Germany with an old-fashioned copy protection ... - judging from the description I read it must be kind of a code-wheel like in Monkey Island. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/winkwink.gif" alt="" />
