I'm thinking about writing something about the world of Divine Divinity. Just cause I like it and it's fun to do.
Here are my thoughts about the "geography" and a few questions. Feel free to correct me <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" />
The whole world together is called Rivellon. It is divided in the Dukedom of Ferol, the Black Forest, the Council of Seven hall and the Wastelands.
the Dukedom of Ferol is divided by a river.
**West of the river you have the village Aleroth, where the healers live. The village is somewhat leaded by Mardaneous, the oldest and wisest of the healers. Beneath Aleroth are the Catacombs.
Question 1: We don't know who was "made" the catacombs, do we?"
**East of the river we have the rest of Ferol.
The most important and populated places are:
-the Poor Quarter
-the Farmlands
-Nericon's Garden (important because of it's history)
-next to Nericon's Garden is a cemetery. it's important cause behind it lays Iona's dungeon, Iona is an important member of Black Ring.
-on the other side of Nericon's Garden there's the Holy Weapons chamber
-Rivertown, the commercial center of Ferol. beneath it are the Rivertown sewers which are connected with the treasure rooms of Stormfist Castle and the Verdistis Sewers
-the Dwarven Village where the Dwarves of Ferol live
-Stormfist Castle, where the Dukes of Ferol live and reign
-in the southeast there's a camp of the Orcs who are at war with the humans. and in the west of that camp there used to be a village but it's ruined and left by the inhabitants because of the orcs.
-in the southwest there is the archers guild of the elves
-there are also two Inns in Ferol: the Blue Boar Inn (near the Poor Quarter) and the Dwarven Bread Inn (near the Dwarven Village)
-and at last there's the big city in the north: Verdistis. In Verdistis you can find an Inn (the Ducal Inn), the Thieves' Guild, the Merchants' Guild, the Assassin's Guild and some houses of the rich and noble
Question 2:I have some doubts about Rivertown. I would think that everything west of the river is called Rivertown, and not only the commerial center where the merchants are. And then the commercial center is called Ars Magicana...
the Black Forest lays south of Ferol. In the East there are mountains, in the west is the actual forest.
**In the mountains you can find:
-the Dwarven Halls and Mines, where the Dwarves and their king live.
-the Imp's Castle. the Imp's live there but the most of them are spreaded in the mountains.
**In the forest you can find:
-the Elven Village and their Burial Grounds
-a higher grounds somewhat in the middle of the forest with the Warriors' Guild on top of it.
-in the north there's also an ancient burial chamber
Question 3:Where are the Council of Seven hall and the Wastelands actually situated? It could be usefull to have the ingame teleporters map, but I didn't find it yet...
about the Wastelands: they aren't actually inhabited. there are a few houses in the West but that's it.
In the east there's a large lake with an isle. On the isle you can find the entrance to the Black Lake Dungeon. In the Dungeon are the fortresses of the five most important Black Ring members: Cornelius, Iona, Moriendor, Demona and Josephina. The last fortress is the Fortress of the Demon of Lies.
These are the "places of interest" in Divine Divinity. If I have forgotten something, feel free to say. I think I will write about some more aspects of the world but that's something I'll post later on.
