The DD and BD story lines are the same, though BD's story is more of an aside than a direct continuation. The DD story dealt with the events leading up to the ritual placing part of the Lord of Chaos into a baby. The novella covered the growth of that child up to his exile from Rivellon. The BD story line dealt with the duration of the exile. The next game will have him back in Rivellon.

I have no strong preference for single character or party based games. Either can be done well or poorly; it all depends on how the game and controls are designed. Single character may be easier to control and better for role playing, but parties allow much more flexibility in creating characters.
