The DD and BD story lines are the same, though BD's story is more of an aside than a direct continuation. The DD story dealt with the events leading up to the ritual placing part of the Lord of Chaos into a baby. The novella covered the growth of that child up to his exile from Rivellon. The BD story line dealt with the duration of the exile. The next game will have him back in Rivellon.

There is a novella? Where can I get this? I would love to see more of the story!

It used to be sold together with the soundtrack CD, see here in the topmost news item. However, the link to Larian's online shop doesn't work anymore, so maybe one of the Larian staff can comment on whether it's still available.

Hello,

The novella isn't for sale anymore, but we still have a few copies in our office. If you email me your address, I can send you a version.

All the best,

Actually, I wouldn't mind turn-based combat 'cos especially in really huge fights, it can get out of control. However, please don't add in too many restrictions like: you can only cast XXX spell once to twice a day, or the whole game becomes rather sluggish. I've always enjoyed DD 'cos of the freedom it gave me: taking away this freedom would be like killing the gameplay.

And also, having a party is also awesome. There're many advantages to having npcs you can control: carrying of loot, tactical strategies, casting of spells, etc. Though, I did wish they had mules or some other form of carrying loot instead of piling it up on the npcs.

Btw, I also hope that the next DD will have subtitles during the intro movies during the acts. BD didn't and I was kinda disappointed 'cos it took me about 6 to 8 tries just to understand a little bit of the opening intro.
