Has anyone here ever had a hole in their lung?
I hear its common enough, but in no way a minor case if not taken care of right away. A few years ago I got one. Apparently if a person was growing fast (back in their growing days) their lung might stretch too fast and have thin spots (weak spots) on it. Well, I was out of shape and had the super duper idea to try and play some hardcore soccer and start playing the trumpet again.
Note to self: these things are not easy on the lungs.
So, one day I was walking up the stairs and BAM! A good hour of excrutiating fun (errrm, pain... ) and then pleanty more of lesser 'fun' afterwards. It was at night, so I thought I should wait until morning to go to the hospital; maybe it was nothing, durrr.
BE YE WARNED, THE FOLLOWING BE A TAD... DESCRIPTIVE
Well turned out that it was the hole in my lung. It was a little less than 50% deflated wich was the warning level, but the doctor had high hopes, and said that I should come back later in the day because it might heal itself... unless of course I wanted him to put a tube in my back and in my lung to help me breath; because he would do me that favour.
I dicided to wait.
Wanna know something gross? Later that night I first felt the pang, I had to walk back down the stairs to get to my bed. As I did, I could hear a liquidy bubbling noise comming from my chest (the lung area, needless to say). I thought I had pneumonia. But nono, just a hole in the lung. That was the sound of the air bubbling out of my lung and into the deflated space above it.
It eventually healed up, but I had to take it easy for a while even after it was done.
Now, why this odd story, you say? Well, I'm nervous... you see today, a couple hours ago in fact, my right lung area started hurting... constantly. Nothing like the big boom of the break back then (b..b..b..b.. ) but (another b! ) still not so fun. In fact, every deep breath and bodily movement kicks it into action. I suspect another one might be comming along. But I can't go to an 'H' for a while because I am 'engaged' in important schedualed activities that cannot be reschedualed so I'll just take it easy to try and put off any inconveniances.
Well, that was putting it lightly.
Alright, just wanted to type a bunch of stuff. Besides, my last unpleasant experiance got such nice reviews.

hmm had a lady friend who had one of them holes, she had it fixed and after 2 weeks was back at work (in a commercial kitchen) the only thing she complained about was that she had to quit smoking ... so from my PoV it is nothing to be nervous about, as long as you believe and follow the Doc's orders

Eeeee... That's scarey. I'm glad you're still here.
The closest experience I've had to that is having a hole in my heart. During an annual checkup, my doctor heard what he thought was a heart murmer, a small noise coming from the heart. They did an ultrasound and found that there is a small hole between two of the chambers that shouldn't have a hole between them. Thankfully the hole was so small they recommended we just leave it alone. So I go on my daily life, simply aware that a heart attack will probably kill me. I stay in good health, far away from heart attacks.

Thanks everyone.
But, unfortunately the night of my first post I became quite sure I had the pneumothorax (btw, thats what the hole-in-lung is called) because I recognised the bubbling of excaping air when I bent down one time. Hurrayz!
This morning the hospital confirmed it (took them a couple hours ): my lung was deflated by about 17% (another btw; last time it was about 20 to 25%, not 50% ; fifty % would've meant I'd already be (x.x) <--Dead or in need of major immediate surgery;... so, not 50% ). They made me nervous with the long wait because they said I might need the tube, but in the end they decided they'd just keep an eye on it with dayly X-rays just to be sure. Thank God, it should be okay if I just take it easy.
That said though; dang, HeF! A hole in yer heart? Small or not, the thought of it would make me shudder more than the lung thing. My props to you for making that goal to stay healthy and to beat out the chances of anything wrong.
Okydoke. TTFN!

P.S.: I think one of the doctors was a wee bit annoyed since it seemed like I knew what I was talking about when I explained the problem to him (since I'd had it before). I dunno; maybe he was just a little tired in the morning, maybe he just has one of those personalities, but I coulda sworn it was one of those things where the professional doesn't like having his job done by the patient.

Well Killerzz I would advice you not to pinch your nostrils, shut your lips firm and try to breathe trough your ears...
anywaaaaay... recover as much possible, lungs are fragile and injuries to it should be taken very seriously.
It's one of these days...
