I tried all the above and still nothing.
Pausing upon loading causes the character sprite to dissapear. Hitting ESC to go immediatley to menu still have grayed out save. Holding keys like CTRL or trying to move in different directions don't work either <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/disagree.gif" alt="" />
I think the only workaround I had was the fact that I had two saves so close together, so I backed up the inventory files and copied them to the save that worked.
Unfortunately that doesn't do much good in this case. Guess I'll have to replay anything I may have done (don't remember my progress anyway).
