I just received the following e-mail from Last Day of Work. Hooray!

Hi,

We are delighted to announce the release of Virtual Villagers - The Lost Children, Chapter 2 in our Virtual Villagers series!

We have been lovingly working on this game for months here at LDW, and it is finally done. Some of the highlights:
- Children will inherit an appearance similar to their parents
- Villagers will grow old and grey
- 48 unique collectibles for children to retrieve
- All new puzzles to solve
- Villagers can make a variety of unique stews from hidden herbs, many with strange and unpredictable effects
- Uncover mysteries and milestones as you unravel the hidden story of the Island
- Runs in True Real-Time: new surprises every time you turn on your game
- Hundreds of new unique and customizable villagers
- Breed your villagers and raise your own tribe

As always, we hope you enjoy it, and please feel free to try it for free and see if it grabs you.

The link to try it out, or to purchase it, is here:

It is a lot of fun. I played the first one at great length. It's tricky playing areal time game. The people continue to go about their business even when the computer is off. I woke up today and I hand't told anyone to collect food. They're all starving now and my one adult female is dead. I'm just glad a couple of the girls are growing up soon. We need more babies!

hmm wasn't too impressed with all the stuff it installs on my pc and the continuos internet checking had me going a little paranoid .. thus the virtual villagers are virtual no more

Yup was from them, the Demo, LOL dunno what it was doing but Zone alarm was going crazy, blahdee blah.exe is trying to launch another program, blahdee blah.exe is trying to connect to the internet etc etc, too much to worry about for lil old me if they want all that data and they wanna check what PC I run they can send me an email, and if I want to go to their website I will do that ... don't need the Game to do it for me

Fair enough. Zone Alarm only piped up three times during install for me, once to download a file, and twice to run it.

@ my aussie mates -> i've played the PalmOS version of this game & it really rawks! not sure how well the game plays in PC though. haven't tried it. anyway, i think this game is best for me in my Palm Tungsten E as i often bring that one around with me all the time.

still, this game is worth checking out, especially for those who want something different from the usual humdrum that we have for PC.

@ HEF & Mea -> how many villagers can the PC version support at most?

The first chapter of Virtual Villagers can have up to 90 villagers. I'm still half-way through the second chapter and up to 50 villagers so far. Also, the PC version has more puzzles than the Palm version.
