Hmm sorry Rince, only got to this topic after I read your pointed reference in another thread

Mea, what was your experience with Comodo? Did it start off okay and then eat up resources, or was it ravenous right from the start? I've just started experimenting with firewalls (preferably free ones!) after using Sygate for several years. Wanted something a bit newer... but I've kept the old Sygate installation file, just in case.

Hmm yeah, it seemed fine at first, but as my Boss has a habit of (Making me ) connect every gadget he has to the computer (these include 3 diff CellPhones a navman 2 Camera's a couple of Palms his Realistic MP3 player and his iPod) the whole proggy went like treacle

So far, my Comodo installation has been fine, although I'm not entirely happy with it. But it's only been up for about a week. Don't see a lot good said about any of the firewalls these days, free or paid versions, and ZoneAlarm in particular (which I didn't much like when I tried it many years ago) has been getting quite a bit of flack.

Hmm well I have the whole ZoneAlarm suite (don't use the AntiVir ... cause IMHO !avast is better) but after 2 years of free updates & free engines updates I have not had any problems I particularly like the "Game Mode" Feature that works great for sp games (which I play a lot)Have tried AVG was a hassle installing specially after Norton's and tried 1 other I can't remember but ZA was by far the easiest to use install and update so ... I am happy with it

On the other hand, with the myriad computer configurations out there I suppose it's not surprising that even the best software is loved by some and hated by others.

Too true for years I was totally addicted to Norton's with all the lovely little tools that was until Win XP PRO got started then I lost the interest and the time to ahem work on it

If anyone has other firewall suggestions, btw, I'd be happy to hear them.

I stick to ZA
